What: Training of trainers for the “I Can Do It” workshop. This workshop has been developed and revised by National Education Association members. Included in the workshop are the elements necessary for instruction and classroom management that blend seamlessly to support challenging academic goals for the learning and achievement of all students. Current LPS instructors who are ICDI trainers will be the lead trainers.
The ICDI workshop has been offered for up to seven hours of flex time the past two years to LPS staff during the school year and summer.
Who: LEA teacher members who have at least five years classroom teaching experience are asked to apply. Ten applicants will be accepted. Applicants will need to complete and return an application by May 9. Candidates will be notified by May 23 if they have been selected.
Rewards: Trainers earn: a stipend of $100; a choice of one (1) hour of salary advancement with a payment of $40 or seven hours of flex time; 5.6 hours of Professional Growth points; future LPS staff development workshop pay when one trains the ICDI workshop for flex time.
Commitment: Must attend both days, June 19 and 20, of the “Train the Trainer” sessions to become certified, to receive the $100 stipend, the salary advancement or flex time. Each trainer must commit to teach at least one workshop during the 2008-2009 school year. Because the trainers will become NEA certified, each may be called upon to train outside the LPS School District. Each trainer will have the option to accept the assignment.
