Dear Educator:
I’m Tami (Robinson) Soper and I’m running for Legislature in District 21. I am honored to have received
These endorsements are important to me because my mother, Ada Robinson, was an educator with
Lincoln Public Schools for 33 years; and I understand and respect the dedication and commitment that it
takes to be an educator. As a Lincoln High graduate and a parent with a child in Lincoln Public Schools I
want to ensure that the quality education that I received is available for generations to come.
I truly believe the best investment we can make in our future is to educate our children today. As the next
District 21 State Senator I will work to decrease the portion of the state-aid formula that is paid by our
property taxes. I will advocate for increased funding for education and competitive pay for our teachers,
because we must be able to recruit and retain quality educators in order to ensure quality education.
And, I will not support unfunded mandates on our educational system that shift valuable resources away
from the classrooms.
I have a demonstrated history of serving that includes military service, volunteerism in our community
and a career as a public health and human services professional. For the past four years I’ve put that
history to work in the Unicameral. As a Legislative Aide, I’ve spent hundreds of hours solving citizens’
problems, drafting and advancing legislation, and building relationships with senators and their staff, as
well as, state agency representatives and advocacy groups. I know first-hand how the Nebraska
legislative process works and I’m prepared to work for compromise when it’s appropriate and stand
and fight for you when it’s not.
I believe my experience coupled with my genuine desire to put people before politics makes me
uniquely qualified to serve as you next District 21 State Senator. It would be my honor to serve you and I
would appreciate your support on May 13.
Sincerely,
Tami Soper
